What is the Recommended BMW Tire Pressure?

Hand Holding Tire Gauge to Tire

The recommended BMW tire pressure for most models in the current lineup is 32 PSI (pounds per square inch). Because this may not be the exact recommendation for your particular model and configuration, we highly recommend checking the sticker on the inside edge of the driver’s door. If the proper BMW tire pressure is not listed in this location, you should be able to find it in your owner’s manual. To ensure your vehicle is operating efficiently and safely on the roads of Manchester, it is important that the tire air pressure is correct. The Importance of Proper Tire Pressure

What are the benefits of properly inflated BMW tires?

  1. Lower risk of flat tires or blown out tires
  2. Extended tire life due to reduced wheel spin and less friction
  3. Better fuel economy

How to Check Tire Pressure

Many new BMW models feature a tire pressure monitor. You will receive an alert on your dashboard when the BMW tire pressure is low. Wondering how to check tire pressure manually? It is best to check the pressure when the tires are cold instead of immediately after the car has been driven. This will give you a more accurate reading. Simply follow the steps below to check the tire air pressure:

  1. Unscrew the valve stem cap and put it in a safe location.
  2. Place a tire pressure gauge onto the valve stem. Press down firmly.
  3. Read the number on the tire pressure gauge. If it is close to the 32 PSI mark (or the correct PSI for your particular vehicle), your BMW tires are properly inflated.
  4. Remove the tire pressure gauge.
  5. If your BMW tires are filled past the recommended PSI, let some of the air out by pressing down the center plunger in the valve stem. Check the tire air pressure once again.
  6. If the tire air pressure is below the recommended PSI, add enough air to get it to the recommended amount.
  7. Replace the valve stem cap.

Remember to also check your BMW spare tire every 6 months to a year in addition to the rest of your tires.

Keep Your BMW Tires in Excellent Condition

  1. Inspect your tires regularly to ensure they have enough tread and that there are no cracks in the sidewalls.
  2. If your tires regularly lose air pressure, it could be due to a slow leak. If this is the case, it is best to have your tires looked at by a professional. They may need to be replaced.
  3. Keep up to date with regular tire rotations and wheel alignments.
