First BMW M3 DTM Concept to Debut in Munich

Finally after 18 years BMW has plans to rejoin rivals Audi and Mercedes-Benz for the 2012 motorsport season! Tulley BMW has been eager to see what the Bavarian automaker will bring to the table since they first announced their highly-anticipated return last year. Next month, we will finally get our first glimpse.

BMW is planning to unveil their new M3 DTM concept for the first time at Munich's Olympic Stadium on July 16-17. While it is still in its concept form and will likely evolve some between its current state and production, it will give racing enthusiasts some insight into what next year's car will look like.

"The fact that DTM [Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters] is staging an event in Munich this year is obviously exciting and interesting for us too," says Jens Marquardt, Motorsport Director, BMW, happy to see BMW back in the game. "...Right on our doorstep gives the term 'home event' a whole new meaning...Although we will not be competing in 2011, we want to use this opportunity to give DTM and BMW Motorsport followers a taste of what they can look forward to next season..."1

BMW began developing the all-new MS DTM last October. Reports indicate the project has, thus far, gone according to plan and that the BMW M3 DTM concept is slated to undergo its first round of testing in the imminent future.

When BMW does return to the motorsport arena in 2012, they will be represented by three capable teams: BMW Team Schnitzer, BMW Team RBM, and BMW Team RMG.
