New BMW M5 'Bullet' Commercial Showcases the True Beauty of Performance

How powerful would a 2012 BMW M5 be if it were shot out of the barrel of a gun? The question might seem a bit silly, but it's more or less the premise of an all-new ad, which is simply titled, "Bullet." Produced by BMW of Canada, the commercial was shot using a high-speed camera to capture every detail of the performance sedan's transformation from car to projectile in fluid slow motion.

At the start of the commercial, we see the BMW M5 in a dark cylindrical area. As its engine revs up, it becomes clear that this is the barrel of a gun.

Once the BMW M5 has reached its top speed, it shoots out of the barrel, driving on a dry desert landscape. Then, it hits its first target: a giant, red, glass apple. As the BMW M5 hits, the apple shatters in great detail. It's simply a thrill to watch, but is quickly overshadowed by what comes next.

That would be three enormous water balloons hanging from overhead. Each one is filled with gallons of water and strategically placed just about the BMW M5. In other words, simply driving under each one will cause it to burst and send a rather large globe of water hurdling towards the ground. This happens just as predicted, but without getting even a drop of water on its blue exterior.

The "Bullet" commercial ends with the BMW M5 breaking through a black-and-white target with pitch-perfect accuracy. Shortly after, the camera pans back to show the entire course that the BMW M5 traveled after exiting the barrel, with all three obstacles in sight.
