BMW Amalgamations Speak to Integrity

You've likely heard the old adage: You get what you pay. Well, never have we seen that sentiment so cleverly rendered as in the new ad campaign from BMW. If you haven't already seen the trio of commercials on TV, Tulley BMW, serving the greater Nashua area, highly recommends you check them out on YouTube. While they do not possess the quintessential air of contemporary class found in most traditional BMW ads, they are fresh, smart, and ever-so entertaining.

The first of the three BMW ads we watched, is narrated by a couple traveling on a safari. It's gritty and the red record light at the top-left makes it clear that it's supposed to emulate a home video. Part of the footage captures a lion with water buffalo horns. The couple bickers as to whether it's a lion or a water buffalo. Finally, they agree that whatever it is, it's completely unnatural and compromise on calling it a "luffalo".

The second new BMW commercial we viewed, looks like live coverage of a horse race. The exuberant commentator follows the horses in conventional fashion until the leader, Penny Loafer, is passed by a bizarre zebra-horse coined "zorse" that emerges from the herd. He then exclaims, "Penny Loafer is losing ground. For the love of cream cheese! That's not natural."1

The third ad spot in the new BMW campaign is perhaps our favorite. If you were clicking through the channels, you might initially think you were passing by a National Geographic special. The clip displays penguins on an iceberg and is accompanied by a narrator who carries on in a melodic tone until he spots a penguin with a toucan beak (a "poucan").  Embarrassed for, and shocked by, the creature he swears (don't worry, it's bleeped out) and says, "Some things just aren't natural."1

While each ad spot  features a different amalgamation developed by the creatives in the BMW ad department, each conveys the same poignant message: "Keep your BMW as nature intended with 100 percent original BMW parts and services...Ask your BMW center about extended BMW extended vehicle protection."1 And, they're right. It just doesn't make sense to use anything that isn't BMW certified in your BMW, or have anyone that doesn't have in-depth experience servicing and repairing BMWs, working on your car.
